Host name or web hosting?

i have made a web site in dreamweaver 8, i want to publish it to the web, do i need a domain name or a web hosting plane?

and what%26#039;s the difference between domain name and web hosting?

thanks!

Host name or web hosting?

The domain name is simply the name you type in your browser to access a page. For example, %26quot;www.mywebsite.com%26quot; is a domain name. It replaces the IP address that no one in their right mind you remember.

You normally buy your domain name once and renew it yearly approximately. Your domain name can have multiple extensions, such as .COM, .EDU, .ORG, .CA, etc. Some have restricted usage (.EDU, .GOV), some are open (.COM, .CA).

Your hosting is the actual server where you will upload your site with your design tool (Dreamweaver, Frontpage, etc.). Your normally pay a fee monthly, but you can also host it yourself if you have a Web server at home that you keep on all day. You can do this using dyndns.org for example.

Note that you have multiple possibilities:

1) No domain name and self-hosting (www.dyndns.org for example) --%26gt; Free (or almost)

2) Domain name and self-hosting (not free; www.dyndns.org can do this)

3) No domain name and hosting --%26gt; Not free, about 5$/month (not recommended)

4) Domain name and hosting --%26gt; Not free, about 5$/month for the hosting + 50$/year for your domain name

To setup #4, try www.modhost.com or www.dotster.com. They both work well and are affordable.

Host name or web hosting?

I can provide you good web hosting for your site, as well as the domain name!

See - http://www.DependableHost.net Report It

Other Replys:Domain name gives you and adrress... and web hosting is where you can upload your files. I mean you still have an address with the hosting but is easy for other%26#039;s just remember your domain.

Example:

It%26#039;s easier say http://www.magdiel.ya.st than http://www.gratisweb.com/magdazar

Easy!

Other Replys:Both.

I use Host Gator for hosting. They have plans as low as $6 a month.

%26amp;

Domain names are $13.50 per year thru

Your host will provide you with name servers ie.

NS1.yoursite.com

NS2.yoursite.com

You log-in to your domain registrar, then change the name servers.

These videos walk you step by step

Other Replys:you can find the details here http://tinyurl.com/lsulp

Other Replys:The Name is what people type in to get your website: Ex: google.com

web hosting is where your web site is put. When Some one types in your HOST NAME, the browser connects with the WEB HOSTING and puts your site up for the world to see.. neat huh? Well you can get both, a host name and web hosting here:

These guys are good, and for $4.95 a month, I%26#039;d consider them the best.
