What is a web hosting?

I%26#039;m just new to web hosting. I have an assignment and the instruction to my assignment said that i need a host to upload my report for submission. I just don%26#039;t get it. I registered to one of the web host site and I don%26#039;t see any upload a file thing. and why I need a host to submit a report? is web hosting capable of submitting a report? pls help.

if you want the report to be the default website page then...

in geocities you can go to the file manager and upload the file...then rename it ( after saving it on ur PC as an html document and uploading the HTML file to the site) as index.html...

you can also use geocities%26#039; page maker to design the pages but usually they fall flat on incorporating files other than the ones already there...good luck and have fun with your web site..
