Hello,
Here is my problem , I currently have a person website I have built with Frontpage 2003, I own a domain name that I bought and have it paid for until 2010. My webhosting service is through IPOWER , And I hate it ! It always has problems and my website never loads correctly on the ipower servers. I thought that maybe It was my website or computer that was the problem. So I got a bran new computer and got a New version of Frontpage and REMADE MY WEBSITE from scratch. And I noticed today that Im having the same problems with my website so it has to be the web hosting service. So now I want to switch to a new web hosting company. Can I do this and how ? I need to be able to take my domain name with me. What do I need to do to this ? The new comany I want to switch too is Omnis Web host. And one more thing is im mad casue I have pre-paid for 2 years hosting on Ipower and now have to switch for poor service. Do I lose my money then ? or can I ask for a refund ?

Web Hosting and Domain Name Transfer - Need Help - !!!?
I suggest you switch to another host like bluehost, or godaddy.
Other Replys:First, since you%26#039;re prepaid on the domain till 2010 you can leave it there and just switch webhosts. You%26#039;ll have to go into your domain control panel and point the DNS to the new hosting servers. I would switch to http://www.doggydomains.com They have good hosting at low cost and also 24/7 phone support. Once you get a hosting plan you can call the support and they%26#039;ll tell you where to point the DNS for your domain.
Also, you should be able to get a refund since you paid up for two years. Most hosting companies will refun the unused portion.
Other Replys:Depends on the company%26#039;s policies as to whether you%26#039;ll get a refund...as to transferring, yes, do it!
From advice I%26#039;ve gotten, it%26#039;s best to register your domain name with a company different from the company with which you%26#039;re doing the hosting in case this happens again! Less hassle when you transfer...see the point? If you transfer, you don%26#039;t have to move the name, just go to the registrar and change the dns pointer to the new host! That%26#039;s what I%26#039;ve done. Registrar fee is cheap! Like as cheap as $6-$7 per year. Then, when you OWN a domain name like that you can buy into hosting for as cheap as free, in some cases (like Google, once you finagle your way through it...) or $12 a month (Yahoo!) or whatever godaddy costs (I don%26#039;t know but I%26#039;ve heard it%26#039;s good) or like that.
My hosting company is aso (A Small Orange http://www.asmallorange.com) $9 per month and I%26#039;m very happy with them - good uptime and excellent tech support and excellent control panel.
